Like the change that the dragon fly represents, Smart Possibilities has grown, developed, and morphed into something that I didn’t know was even possible. When I started Smart Possibilities as a sole proprietor in 2016, I saw it as my way help people discover their natural talents through the Clifton Strengths Assessment and explore how to leverage their strengths for greater efficiency and success.
In 2018 I began traveling and accepting training contracts that took me all over North America, but those leadership training sessions took me further and further away from my original vision of owning a strengths-focused organization. All of that time on the road provided a lot of time to read and research and I found myself continually drawn to books, articles, and videos with an underlying theme of gratitude, wellbeing, resilience, vitality, and happiness.
It was during that time that I came across a 9-month intensive certification program in Applied Positive Psychology. The more I understood about Positive Psychology the more I was convinced that every twist and turn I had taken up to this point was designed to bring me to this new, blossoming science. It speaks to my interests and passion as it provides people with the tools they need to lead a more satisfying and flourishing life. Focusing on your natural talents and leveraging your strengths is part of science, but I discovered that there is so much more to science of well being.
Traditional psychology is the study of illness and how to bring people suffering from illness back to a neutral mental position. Positive psychology, on the other hand, looks to help people who may or may not be suffering from anxiety, depression, or other illnesses, but are languishing and looking for techniques to help them live their best life. Positive psychology is for all of us who would like to be a little more fulfilled, a bit more satisfied, or a tad happier.
I am proud to say that I completed the program with the Flourishing Center in 2021 and am professionally certified as an Applied Positive Psychology Practitioner. Additionally, I am a Certified Organizational Development Professional, Emotional Intelligence Facilitator, Gallup StrengthsFinder Coach, and Health Coach. I have completed ATD certificate programs in Coaching, Facilitation, and Change Management and am currently enrolled in a Mindfulness Workplace Professional Certification. My greatest professional joys is combining all of the knowledge I have accumulated to help individuals and teams be their best and do their best.
A few fun facts about me- I have raced sailboats, ridden a motorcycle across the country, biked and camped the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, and backpacked Cambodia-solo-for a month. Yes, you could say, I am an adventure junkie!
